Journey through Journalism

I was in 8th standard when my first essay was published in 'The Inspirer' which used to be one of the most popular youth magazines of Nepal. 'The Inspirer' motivated and inspired me, and I started writing for them on a regular basis. By the time I completed my secondary schooling, I had already published over two dozen articles in The Inspirer and over a dozen articles on other youth magazines.

In 2010, I completed my high school and then I started working for Republica National Daily English Newspaper. Bylines started being normal for me because every week I used to write and publish at least two or three news pieces or feature articles. I did not have a specific beat, but most of my news and articles were related to education, society, youth, and technology. In addition to writing news and feature articles, I also practiced a little bit of photojournalism in Republica. I was also responsible for proofreading the 'Miscellaneous' page and assisting the graphics designer at the end of the day. 'Football, drinking, and youth' was my first feature article published in the Republica which was published during the 2010 Football WorldCup.

In 2012, I became the editor for "Sanchar Khabar," an in-house tabloid newsletter for Kathmandu University. Later that year, in partnership with my friend Sandip Shrestha, I founded and published a monthly English magazine titled "The Correspondent's Post." Unfortunately, we faced a serious financial crisis. Thus we decided to shut it down after publishing four issues of the magazine. During this period I wasn't directly involved with any mainstream newspapers. However, time and again, I was writing opinion articles for some of them.

In 2014, I became associated with The Himalayan Times, which is also one of the leading National Daily English Newspapers in Nepal. At The Himalayan Times, I was involved with a supplementary page titled TGIF (Thank God it's Friday!).  TGIF is a supplement published every Friday that covers glamour news and happenings. In addition to TGIF, I also supported other supplementary pages in the domain of travel, health, and technology. In general, I practiced news/feature writing, glamour/stock photography, and proofreading at The Himalayan Times.

I don't know if I should isolate web with print, but for obvious reasons, I've contributed a number of websites and online journals.

In general, I am a media enthusiastic with interest in almost every domain that falls under media and communications. Along with writing and journalism, I also enjoy and have practiced audio-visual productions, radio/TV program presentation and productions, and, media marketing and public relations.
